For more details please visit this page. Each family should have their logins by now. We still have several students that have not had their information verified. See this message for more details.
We have some exciting news! For quite some time, the St. Albert administrative team has been considering a reading transition that focuses more on lifelong reading. We feel that a 21st-century library should be the heart of our entire reading community and we are thrilled to bring a specialist on board to help guide us. Together, with Mrs. Carrie Brown, our school library media specialist, we are offering the opportunity to all students to become creators through inquiry, collaboration and engagement through STREAM. Readers will be motivated intrinsically to understand the impact of information literacy in their future pursuits. This maker-mentality is highly recommended by the American Association for School Libraries and supported by The Archdiocese of Louisville. We are thrilled to be offering our students this means of core learning which will encourage them to become the lifelong learners and readers we are striving for them to become.
Mrs. Brown is always open for discussion about our transition and would be happy to show you our new library/media space!
We will be collecting Gently Used Shoes for the next two weeks. Please drop off any donations you may have in the box located in the Gathering Space of the Church, starting this past weekend, August 25th and 26th and running through August 31st.
By donating your new and gently used shoes to WaterStep, you’ll help fund safe drinking water projects all over the world — projects that help to save hundreds of thousands of lives each year. In addition to funding water projects, donated shoes keep hundreds of tons of waste out of our landfills. We accept gently used athletic shoes that are free of mold/mildew. Shoes are sold to an exporter and funds received help bring clean water to those in need.
We are in need of more volunteers for this school year. People usually work 1 or 2 days a month from 10:30am to 1:00pm serving and restocking food and helping with the dishes. Volunteers must have the safe environment training. Sign up at this link!
What's your favorite book? Email a picture of your child holding or reading their favorite book OR send "Caught Reading" pictures to: Mrs. Brown in the St. Albert Library: cbrown@stalbert.org. Pictures will be displayed in the library.
To enhance the maker-movement in our library, the library is collecting:
The library will collaborate with a Student Library Council. Student Library Council leaders will be elected this Thursday. At all meetings, members will brainstorm and experiment with new maker-activities and materials, create sample maker-products/library displays, organize book clubs, recommend new literature, create book talks/trailers or maker-blog posts, and shelve books, among other duties the council deems as important. The council will meet at least once each month.
Archbishop Joseph Kurtz will preside over the 10:30AM with the dedication to follow. All are welcome!
