Happy Halloween!
This Wednesday, October 21st at 8:00pm
I know this week is going to be filled with excitement and anticipation as we get closer to the weekend. It is so fun to see holidays through a kid’s eye. They really know how to live life to the fullest and embrace all the fun there is to have. I know I wish I could be more like them. I hope you find joy in this week and get to celebrate Halloween with fun and games. (While wearing a mask and practicing social distancing :-D )
I have a couple of different things I want to share with you.
For our jr high parents:
There is a webinar through Operation Parent tomorrow on the effects of social distancing on teen’s social emotional wellness. They also have another webinar on dating abuse. Here is the link to their website where you can register and sign up for email notifications.
There are two opportunities through the U of L Depression counseling office for our 13-18 year olds. Please see the links included to learn more about these offerings.
For everyone- regarding carpool
Thank you to everyone. I think that carpool is running much better now that we have our routine down. We still need you to continue to pull forward by the elementary school drop off. The students can walk in the grass to their correct entrances. Please do not stop at a certain entrance to let your child out. This slows up carpool.
For the Jr high drop off please allow your child to get out of the car and walk to their correct entrance. They do not have to be directly in front of the door to exit their car.
There have been some parents who have volunteered to help with carpool. Teachers and others have mentioned this to us. If you are someone who would like to help please email the carpool team. Our emails are:
lfinley@stalbert.org
madam@stalbert.org
sshort@stalbert.org
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is a huge help that will allow our assistants and special teachers to get to their rooms and prepare for their day.
In the midst of this crazy year if you think of something that you see going right or feel happy that it is happening, will you share that with the person? Just a few kind words or recognition of the hard work that is going on can mean so much to someone who may need to hear that. It is easy to feel defeated and less than when we only hear the negative comments.
On that note, I just want to take the time to say to all of the parents out there thank you for sending your child to St. Albert and for entrusting us with your most precious gift. We share with you the love and care you have for them and want to support them in their school career.
Virtual hugs,
Stacie Short
School CouncilorCHURCH DEDICATION ROSARIES
Last week the youngest and only of every Parish School family received a rosary in honor of the 20th Anniversary of our new Church's Dedication. Some of those rosaries featured a card inside that stated your family won a special door prize! Be sure to verify if your family's rosary was a winner. If so, have your student bring the card to the office and collect their prize.
Happy Anniversary St. Albert Church!

Spirit Wear Day/Halloween Shirt Day
Friday, October 30th
Students in grades 1st-8th may participate in a regular spirit wear day (follow the spirit wear policy found in the Parent/Student Handbook) OR wear a Halloween themed shirt with uniform bottoms on Friday, October 30th. No costumes allowed.
Preschool-Kindergarten students should follow Halloween dress instructions provided by your child's teacher.
Friday, 12:30 Dismissals Continue Through January
As stated in our September Sustainability Letter, we have evaluated the continuation of our Friday, 12:30 dismissals. At this time, we are going to continue the Friday, 12:30 dismissals through January when we will reevaluate the calendar/schedule again. As several Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese are adjusting their calendars during the Holiday season, we have currently decided to continue with our original school calendar with the addition of the Friday, 12:30 dismissals through January. Thank you for your understanding in this adjustment, and we will watch our circumstances and take into consideration recommendations from the CDC and Archdiocese should we need to make any further adjustments.
Morning Car pool times changing
Our morning carpool seems to be going great! With the colder weather approaching, we are now taking temperatures when students are entering the building. Since we have made such great improvements, we are going to move the drop off time from 7:15 to 7:25. This means our morning carpool will be from 7:25 - 7:50 each morning. We will start this adjusted time after Thanksgiving, on Monday, November 30.

St. Albert Teachers' Helpers
The PTO has decided to add volunteer parent/grandparent teachers' helpers- 2 per day, starting next week. Please see the signup genius below if you are able to assist the staff.
The Faculty and Staff at St. Albert have been taxed by the added duties that our current environment has demanded. The duties of volunteers may be different each day and would be dictated by the need of the staff. Each volunteer must have attended the "Honor Thy Children" class sponsored by the Archdiocese, as well as have a background check on file. Please arrive on time in the office and be ready to help in any way needed. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!
PTO is Looking for a Stewardship Committee Co-Chair!
The Stewardship Committee is looking for a co-chair for this school year. Duties include working with the committee chair and parents from grades 5-7 to help organize service events and projects for each class. The service activities teach our students about service to others, which is the foundation of our Catholic faith. Through our actions, we are sharing God’s love with others in their time of need. If you would like more information please contact Peggy Hertel at ptostewardship@stalbert.org or 502-693-3398.
