Carpool Reminders & Thank you

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. Parents and students are doing a fantastic job. Students should be ready to exit their car: masks on, good byes and kisses done, all items in hand. This makes the line move more efficiently. After dropping your student, please proceed slowly and cautiously through the parking lot.

Dollars for Diapers Fundraiser

Hosted by Student Council

February 1-8th

According to the National Diaper Bank, parents spend $70-80 a month on diapers for one child. With everything that is going on in our world today, many people are turning to the St. Bernadette Diaper Bank for help!

The Student Council at St. Albert the Great is asking families to consider donating to our annual Catholic Schools Week fundraiser, Dollars for Diapers. This year, we are collecting monetary donations and will send one big check to the St. Bernadette Diaper Bank that will allow them to purchase the supplies most in need for the families they serve.

Thank you for your donation! We are excited to announce our grand total before February conferences.

2021-22 School Board Open Positions

The School Board is now seeking volunteers and nominations for the open Voting Member positions for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. We are seeking individuals to fill the following two positions.

  • Policy Chair

    • The policy committee evaluates existing policies in the areas of Community Relations, Administration, Personnel, Students & Instruction and Business & Non-Instructional Operations. It also formulates any policy additions or changes needing to be addressed immediately. This is a great committee if you like rules or have experience in human resources, public relations, real estate, education, finance and law.

  • Technology Chair

    • The technology committee drafts a school technology plan, including budget, by assessing existing technology, prioritizing a wish list and gathering cost estimates on securing wish list items. It also evaluates how technology is being used effectively elsewhere. The committee works closely with school and parish technology personnel. This is a great committee if you have experience with information technology and computer programming or you just can’t live without the latest tech gadget.

If you would like to volunteer for an open position or submit a nomination, please email Aaron Giust, School Board Secretary, at schoolboard-secretary@stalbert.org your first and last name (or nominee's name) along with a contact number and email address by Friday, March 5, 2021.

All volunteers and nominees are required to meet with current School Board members for a Discernment Meeting the afternoon of March 7, 2021, to learn more about the Board and the responsibilities of Voting Members. The session will be held online and will last about 30 minutes. Only interested parties will receive the meeting invite. If you have a conflict but are still interested, then please email Aaron Giust, School Board Secretary, at schoolboard-secretary@stalbert.org. Thank you!

Confirmation Cross Project

Our 8th Grade Confirmation Candidates will be decorating a cross during 8A Class on February 16 and 8B and 8C on February 17 ! - that will be used as decoration in Church for Confirmation!

On Feb. 16 and Feb. 17, respectively, you will need to bring a clay pot, a cross to decorate along with filler to place in the pot to hold up your cross and any decorations needed to finish your project. This is a fun, creative way to express your faith and decorate the Confirmation environment in Church! See the attached Supply List!

Confirmation Work of Mercy!

Since the Regional Day of Service and a few other “Work of Mercy” projects have been cancelled; we are offering those who need to complete a Work of Mercy for the service component of Confirmation this opportunity to gather Thursday, Feb. 4 after school to create bags full of blessings and notes full of compassion for those who are homeless or feeling loss of companionship in Nursing Homes.

We will assign each person an item to bring and ask that one brings at least 20 donations of that item, and we will all sort them into Blessing Bags - Items such as warm socks, deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, lip balm, water bottles, granola bars, etc!

Please click Here to Reply if you will participate in this Work of Mercy for Confirmation, and we will send you your assigned donation that is needed for our Blessing Bags!

Teachers' helpers Volunteer Opportunities

When the PTO reached out to St. Albert staff for their needs in the coming months, they mentioned that they could use lunch time monitors to help with the transition from class to lunch and back. Please sign up to help our awesome teachers during this time of day. Check in at the office at 10:45am and check out at 1pm (earlier on Fridays- for now.)

Thanks so much for your help during this time!

Conference Dinner Signups

It's hard to believe it, but Parent/Teacher Conferences are just around the corner and we need your help. In keeping with tradition, the PTO will provide dinner for our teachers on both evenings of the conferences (Feb. 8th and Feb. 9th) in the teachers lounge. We are looking for volunteers to help provide additional items to make this a very special event for our teachers.

It is a wonderful way to show our gratitude to the teachers for all their hard work!! In addition it is an easy way to support the PTO if otherwise your schedule hasn't permitted.

PTO Fundraiser- Virtual Viking Gala 2021

The PTO is gearing up for a virtual fundraiser in lieu of the Viking Gala that is traditionally held in odd years to support initiatives around the school. Viking Gala: Auction items

We are looking for auction items that can be used in a virtual silent auction. We are challenging each family to secure one item for the Silent Auction. We are not suggesting you should buy something, but rather think about your network—both personal and professional—who might be willing to donate an item or service to help enhance your child’s experience at St. Albert the Great. This typically can be done through one phone call, text, or e-mail. Some ideas for auction items include:

  • Restaurant/ Boutique Gift Cards

  • Golf Outings

  • Spa Packages

  • Tickets to Sporting Events

  • Signed Memorabilia

  • Wine Tastings

  • Vacation Rentals

  • Sports Camps

  • Lessons (sports, music, etc.)

  • Jewelry

  • Pool Membership

  • Tickets to Churchill Downs

  • Excursions/Lodging in Other Cities

  • Designer Purses and Bags

  • Baskets of Assorted Themed Items

  • Dental and Cosmetic Enhancements

  • Photography

Contact Rebecca Sivori (502-819-0286 rebecca.sivori@gmail.com) or Lee Van Natta (502-931-6622 leeellen_7@yahoo.com) to arrange pick up of your items.

Viking Gala: Corporate Sponsors

Additionally, we are seeking corporate sponsors who can help provide a gift matching opportunity for our "fund the need" project. If you have a business and would like to be recognized on social media and on our online bidding platform as a corporate sponsor, please contact us to further discuss potential donations.

WE NEED BOURBON!!!

Archery Sign-ups Open!

Archery signups are now open!

Due to limited gym space forced by COVID restrictions, we’re starting a little late this year. As said before, I honestly don’t know how many tournaments we’re going to be able to attend this season. I really want to get the kids back on the range, and hopefully, get a jump on next season.

After signups are complete, I will send out some introductory information for our new archers.

Thanks,

Coach Doyle

You will need to sign up via your gameday account. If new, you will need to create an account with link below.
