Making the Most of Conferences

Attending conferences is an important part of letting your child know education is important to you. With conferences beginning tomorrow, below are a few things you can do to help create an even more beneficial conference.

  • Talk with your child before conferences about any concerns or questions. Ask what they would like you to talk about and what they think the teacher will say.
  • Check your child’s grades on Sycamore.
  • Think about questions you would like to ask and write them down. Some suggestions might be homework expectations, work habits, social skills, and home support.
  • If you haven’t done so already, share items you want the teacher to know about your child such as outside interests, medical concerns, or special needs.
  • Keep an open mind -- remember both you and the teacher want your child to succeed.
  • After conferences, talk with your child about what was discussed. Emphasize the positive and discuss a plan to make needed changes.
  • Keep in touch with your child’s teacher. Remember, conferences can be held at any time. Please don’t wait for a “conference day” to discuss any concerns you might have.

PTO Elections

The PTO is now accepting your nominations for the following positions on the PTO Executive Board for the 2019-2020 school year!

We currently have one Executive Board position open for nominations: Vice President has a three (3) year term and requires one (1) prior year of service on St. Albert's PTO. As a parent at the school, you are automatically a PTO member so as long as you have been in the school for a year, you are eligible to run for office.

The positions of Past President (Laura Nash) and President (Chris Wahl) are closed as they are multi-year terms.

All nominees should show a strong commitment to the purpose of the PTO. You may nominate yourself or someone you think will honorably represent the position.

Please send in your nominations by February 15, 2019 to pto@stalbert.org.

Student Health Screenings

Health screenings for our students will take place on Tuesday, February 26th. If you have a few hours to help us complete these state required screenings, please check out the sign up LINK. No medical training is needed to volunteer!! We have also attached the permission slip that each child must have on file. There is an option to opt out of the screening if you so choose, but we must have the slip returned. There will also be a copy in the Tuesday Folder the week before the screenings. Please send in to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than Friday, February 22nd.

PTO Teacher Conference Dinners

It's hard to believe it, but Parent/Teacher Conferences are just around the corner and we need your help. In keeping with tradition, the PTO will provide dinner for our teachers on both evenings of the conferences (Feb. 12 and 13th) in the teachers lounge. We are looking for volunteers to help provide additional food items to make this a very special event for our teachers.

It is a wonderful way to show our gratitude to the teachers for all their hard work!! In addition it is an easy way to support the PTO if otherwise your schedule hasn't permitted.
