First Trimester: Five weeks Left

I hope everyone had beneficial and productive parent, teacher, student conferences. Now that we are eight weeks into school, and five weeks left of our trimester, it’s time to focus on our goals! We look forward to working together for great accomplishments.

I also hope everyone had some time to relax and rest during the fall break. I always look forward to hearing from the students about their time spent away from school. It seems as if the weather has actually made the change to fall during our break. For me, this is a difficult change in letting go of my favorite seasons of spring and summer; however, I embrace the positives: cool mornings, chili, and pumpkin spice everything! I am looking forward to seeing our families at our PTO Haunted Halls this weekend. Our staff has started working on their Halloween doors and they looking great!

Science Fair Mentoring

This year all 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students will be completing a science fair project. Last year, St. Albert the Great started a mentoring program to give students the opportunity to compete at the regional level, then possibly state. We had one team from St. Albert to win first place at the Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair in mechanical engineering. For those students who want to compete with their projects at the regional and possibly the state level, we offer an after-school mentoring option led by Eliza Gallagher (Mrs. Gallagher's daughter and duPont Manual MST student). The program will meet about once a month on Wednesdays for 1 hour after school in 5C. Topics of discussion will include choosing a project, registering for the competition with Stemwizard (our online science fair management system), and preparing for the competition. This is open to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade interested in competing in the Regional Science Fair in March at the Louisville Science Center.

OUR FIRST MEETING WILL BE THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2019. IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD IS UNABLE TO COME TO THE FIRST MEETING BUT STILL WANTS TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I will make sure important information gets distributed to any child wanting to participate.

Fall Sports Gate and Concession Worker Sign-ups

New Slots are now added!

We once again need your help to support our St. Albert Vikings. Each family is required to sign up for one slot during the season. This means if your child is playing football, volleyball, flag football, cross country, K-2 soccer, cheerleading or powder puff football you need to work a shift in the St. Albert gym. These volunteer hours greatly reduce the cost of all sports at St. Albert.

If you wish to have a sub work your shift, please refer to either the sub list located on the Sports Ministry link or contact Kelly Logsdon at kelly.lewis.logsdon@gmail.com You will be responsible for paying the sub. If you don't find a sub and do not show up for your shift, your child will have to sit out a game. If you do find a sub and the sub does not show up, your child will not be penalized.
