Advent
Happy second week of Advent! The second candle that we light for Advent represents faith. It is called “The Bethlehem Candle” as a reminder of the journey that Mary and Joseph took to Bethlehem.
As we start this second week of Advent, I think of the struggles that Mary and Joseph faced. I think of the struggles many of us are currently facing. The state of our world is such a mess. We are all struggling or know loved ones struggling with sickness, unemployment, loneliness, and other hardships. We struggle daily with the chaos within our own families and at work or school.
Our faith gives us hope and light just like the second candle in our Advent wreath.
Because of our faith, we know that with God’s guidance, Mary and Joseph made it through their struggle to Bethlehem. Because of our faith, we know that we will make it through our struggles and hardships as well.
I hope that this second week of Advent will bring light and faith to you and your families as we prepare for Jesus’ birth.

Chromebook Monitoring
Over the next day or so we are going to send out a reminder to our students that their actions are monitored while they are logged in to our school accounts. This includes chats, emails and search history.
We do not do this to be creepy and I assure you none of us sit at home and comb through what our students do. Our monitoring system is called GoGuardian and it monitors all of the actions. Should a certain set of criteria be met, our staff is alerted and we then investigate.
We are going to change the background on the student chromebooks for a few days as a reminder to all of the students. We don't want you to be alarmed or think that your child specifically has done anything. It's nothing more than a reminder, not a threat or subliminal message.
There have been a handful of instances where the students seem to be very comfortable saying whatever they want in google classroom, meets, and chat. It's very easy to 'hide' behind a keyboard and there's something about it that makes us humans braver than we sometimes are face-to-face in real life.
All of these things are in place to protect your child as we have (in a lot of cases) handed them a key to the world wide web and we/I have a responsibility to do what we can to protect them.
I appreciate your understanding and support as we try to make NTI the best if can be for everyone!
