Better Together
Home/School Communication
As educators, we know that communication between school and home is hugely important to a child's success in school. We are trying to keep all parents informed through a variety of communications, such as, Monday Memo, emails, Facebook, the online calendar, Tuesday folders, and phone calls.
Of course, conferences with teachers can be held at any time. You don't have to wait for a "conference day" to discuss any concerns. If your child comes home and is upset about something that happened that day at school, please let us know at once. Addressing the situation immediately is the best way to get it resolved right away.
When parents and teachers are on the same team, our children are the winners!

Student Library Council
The first Student Library Council meeting was a huge success. Students elected leaders and tried their hands at some of the first maker materials to arrive.
They'll eventually make videos that teach other students how to use the materials and assist with book circulation in the library, too. This council is open to 6th-8th grade students. Permission slips went out on Monday, August 27 via email to students who showed interest. If your student did not receive one, you may find it in your spam box. You may also ask Mrs. Brown for a paper/email copy.
Due to more maker-materials arriving, our next meeting will be moved up to Thursday September 13. In future months, we will generally try to meet the last Thursday of each month, unless there is a conflict. For more pictures of our first meeting, visit the St. Albert Library on Twitter and please follow us for exciting project reveals and library updates. https://twitter.com/stalbertlib
Library Checkouts
Library circulation has begun! We have lots of busy, happy readers finding books that meet their interests. Hooray! I have encouraged them to STOP reading a library book if they don't make a connection. They may bring it back and get a new one when this happens. Their interests are important to me, and will be the gateway that leads to lifelong reading for them.
