As educators, we know that communication between school and home is hugely important to a child's success in school. We are trying to keep all parents informed through a variety of communications, such as, Monday Memo, emails, Facebook, the online calendar, Tuesday folders, and phone calls.
Of course, conferences with teachers can be held at any time. You don't have to wait for a "conference day" to discuss any concerns. If your child comes home and is upset about something that happened that day at school, please let us know at once. Addressing the situation immediately is the best way to get it resolved right away.
When parents and teachers are on the same team, our children are the winners!
Thank you for your UniKids school supply donations at the end of last year. Our donations were shipped to schools and organizations in the Philippines, The US Virgin Islands, Haiti, Uganda, and Peru. Attached please find a thank you note from Unikids.
We are in need of more volunteers for this school year. People usually work 1 or 2 days a month from 10:30am to 1:00pm serving and restocking food and helping with the dishes. Volunteers must have the safe environment training. Sign up at this link!
The Noble H. Kelly PSC at University of Louisville is running a group for children this fall that may be of benefit to some of our students: the Managing Frustration for Children (MFC) group for kids ages 8-11. A flyer is attached that describes the group. Parents that are interested may contact the clinic directly at 502-852-6782 to receive more information and/or enroll. You may contact me directly if you wish to get more information about these services

The first Student Library Council meeting was a huge success. Students elected leaders and tried their hands at some of the first maker materials to arrive.
They'll eventually make videos that teach other students how to use the materials and assist with book circulation in the library, too. This council is open to 6th-8th grade students. Permission slips went out on Monday, August 27 via email to students who showed interest. If your student did not receive one, you may find it in your spam box. You may also ask Mrs. Brown for a paper/email copy.
Due to more maker-materials arriving, our next meeting will be moved up to Thursday September 13. In future months, we will generally try to meet the last Thursday of each month, unless there is a conflict. For more pictures of our first meeting, visit the St. Albert Library on Twitter and please follow us for exciting project reveals and library updates. https://twitter.com/stalbertlib
Library circulation has begun! We have lots of busy, happy readers finding books that meet their interests. Hooray! I have encouraged them to STOP reading a library book if they don't make a connection. They may bring it back and get a new one when this happens. Their interests are important to me, and will be the gateway that leads to lifelong reading for them.
Do you want to know if our library has a particular book? Are you curious about the library mission and vision? Would you like to know more about our check-out policies? Please visit our library webpage! https://school.stalbert.org/viking-library/
Archbishop Joseph Kurtz will preside over the 10:30AM with the dedication to follow. All are welcome!

Many homerooms are still in need of Room Parents- we need your help to have classroom parties, including confirmation and graduation celebrations.
Becoming a Room Parent is a wonderful way to be involved in your child's classroom! You get to spend PTO money to throw Halloween, Christmas and Valentine parties.
Party dates are: 10/31, 12/20 and 2/11 from 1:50-2:30pm. Preschool parties are from 9:15-10:15am. If you are unable to attend every party, you may find a substitute- don’t let that deter you from being a room parent! We need your help to make our classroom celebrations happen.
