Letter from the Administration

December 1st, 2021
Welcome Back!

I hope you had a fantastic break. It was definitely needed. Obviously, there have been many changes due to COVID the last two years. But, this year I think it really hit me how much.
For as long as I can remember my family gathers around the table after Thanksgiving dinner and plays some type of a card game. Usually, it is with my extended family-my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many of us have fond memories of learning how to play different card games from our grandmother. She has since passed on but we all have funny stories of how competitive she was.
Unfortunately, since COVID the large family gathering has been put on pause. Last year we had a very small family thanksgiving. It was not the relaxed, fun atmosphere we have had before. There were no hugs shared or cards played. I think we wore masks and tried to stay apart from one another.
This Thanksgiving my brother and I gathered at my parent’s house with our families. We sat at the table and played cards after dinner. We laughed, shared stories, and stayed longer than we have in a very long time. It seems silly sharing that we played cards but it made me think about how many traditions we have allowed to go to the wayside with our families without realizing it. It may not be because of COVID. It may be because we are too busy or it is such a hassle to do. I am taking time to reflect on those important traditions that I want to pass on to my kids and to their families. Or maybe we may even begin new traditions.
I hope you can take time to reflect on your favorite traditions this Advent season and hold tight to passing them on. Families are changing. That just happens. It has been happening for years and years but it is up to us to carry on the traditions of our family and show each other how important it is.
Counting my blessings,

Stacie Short

covid protocol:

Parents of a vaccinated student may send a copy of their child's vaccination card to tpark@stalbert.org or to the school office to the attention of Tatum Park. If your vaccinated child is exposed to a positive case, you will still be contacted if they are within the 3-foot radius of the positive case. Vaccinated students do not need to quarantine. This is optional but would greatly help us in speeding up the process dealing with exposures and quarantining. Thank you!
