Terra Nova Reports

Our Spring Terra Nova reports will be coming home this week! Grades 2 - 7 will be receiving their reports. Overall, our school did fantastic! We have so much be celebrate and be thankful for. Although we are not yet eligible to reapply for The Blue Ribbon, our scores continue to meet the cut off requirements in order to receive this academic award. When interpreting your child’s test scores, please see the link explaining the Terra Nova report. If you need further explanation, please call or email Ellen Martin (emartin@stalbert.org) or Mary Heather Adam (madam@stalbert.org) Congratulations to all students, teachers, staff, parents, and families for this impressive success. We make a great team!

As we “round the corner” on the 2018-2019 school year, I encourage everyone to finish strong! We have a lot to accomplish in these next couple of weeks. Knowing we have a time for rest ahead, let’s continue to work hard. I am so proud of all the things we have accomplished this school year, and look forward to these coming weeks. Spring is my favorite time of year. Please take time to enjoy it’s many blessings with me.

Summer Solutions

Summer learning loss puts students at a serious disadvantage. This is when skills and knowledge are lost over the summer months, causing students to move backwards instead of progressing.

By spending just minutes a day with Summer Solutions, students get the practice they need to keep moving forward. It was designed to help students return to school after summer break confident in the skills they've already learned and ready to master new ones.

Your child worked hard all year. Make sure that progress sticks. Give your child the advantage of Summer Solutions.

Each book is $13.00.

BE SURE TO USE OUR SCHOOL CODE TO GET THE RIGHT BOOKS: ALB40222

Bus Committee members needed!

Does your child ride the bus? We are starting a bus committee and are looking for a few more parents who want to help be points of contact for the school. We would like parents from each of our buses to participate so that each bus has representatives. Questions or interest, please contact Chris Spalding atschoolboard-ex-officio-chair@stalbert.org

Field day is on a Wednesday this year, so we need all the volunteers we can get! Please see the link below to sign up for a station. Thank you!

Can't make it that day? You can still help by buying "bunch-o-balloons". Send them to Cindy Lindle via kidmail to Sam Lindle(5c) or Natalie Lindle(2b). Please do not pre-fill the balloons.

Grandparents are always welcome to help, as well as level 8 students or older that would like to volunteer. Any questions, please email Sally Hagy @ sally.hagy@erieinsurance.com.

--- FROM YOUR SPORTS MINISTRY ---

Spring Gate and Concession Workers

We once again need your help to support our St. Albert Vikings. Each family is required to sign up for one slot during the season. This means if your child is playing or played boy's volleyball, soccer or softball you need to work a shift at the St. Albert outside field. These volunteer hours greatly reduce the cost of all sports at St. Albert.

Please sign up for an available date/time to work the gate or concession stand. First come, first serve!

When you sign up or sign up a sub, please note the name of the athlete(s) so you will receive credit for working. After April 23, the remaining slots will be randomly filled with families who have yet to sign up. Thanks so much for your support.

If you wish to have a sub work your shift, please refer to either the sub list located on the Sports Ministry link or contact Kelly Logsdon at kelly.lewis.logsdon@gmail.comYou will be responsible for paying the sub. If you don't find a sub and do not show up for your shift, your child will have to sit out a game. If you do find a sub and the sub does not show up, your child will not be penalized.

If you opted out and paid the $20 on SI play when you signed your child up for a sport this spring, I have your name and no action is required. Thanks!

Through 8 weeks of summer overnight camp, as well as school programming in the spring and fall, YMCA Camp Piomingo provides experiential learning opportunities and encourages campers to develop both life skills and character education. Multiple studies have shown that the activities and atmosphere at summer camp not only prevents summer learning loss but also creates an outdoor classroom that taps into academic success.

We want all students to have the benefit of these experiences, so we are reaching out to see if there is an opportunity to work more closely with your school. I have proposed some ideas below and would appreciate it if you could let me know if you are the person we would work with or if there is someone else I should contact at your school. We are hoping to impact as many campers, families, and schools as possible.
