Martin Luther King Jr.

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I have two favorite quotes from him:

One of my favorite quotes of his is, “Faith is taking the first step when you don’t see the whole staircase.” As Catholics, we choose faith every hour of every day. Many of us that have been raised in households of faith, take this gift of faith for granted. We know that we are to live as followers of Christ and we have faith that in the end, we will be united with Him as well as our loved ones. I am grateful that faith is, and always has been a way of life for me.

My other favorite quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, is “Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” As an educator, I LOVE this one. I am so thankful to be a part of a community that honors both of these. St. Albert has a faculty and staff that is highly qualified with Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, and Doctorate degrees. We are also part of a community that genuinely loves each and every student. The daily dedication to the students of St. Albert is reflected everywhere throughout our community.

Thank you, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, for inspiring us to always be kind, have hope, and love one another.

Winter Gate/Concession Workers

Hello Winter Sports Families!

We once again need your help to support our St. Albert Vikings. Each family is required to sign up for one slot during the season. This means if your child is playing basketball, archery, swimming or cheerleading you need to work a shift in the St. Albert gym. These volunteer hours greatly reduce the cost of all sports at St. Albert.

Please sign up for an available date/time to work the gate or concession stand. First come, first serve and more slots will be added as schedules are confirmed!

When you sign up or sign up a sub, please note the name of the athlete(s) so you will receive credit for working. After December 19th, the remaining slots will be randomly filled with families who have yet to sign up. Thanks so much for your support.

If you wish to have a sub work your shift, contact Kelly Logsdon at kelly.lewis.logsdon@gmail.com. You will be responsible for paying the sub ($20). If you don't find a sub and do not show up for your shift, your child will have to sit out a game. If you do find a sub and the sub does not show up, your child will not be penalized.

If you opted out and paid the $20 on SI play when you signed your child up for a sport this winter, I have your name and no action is required. Thanks!

Free Webinar: Raising Preteens and Teens with and for Confidence

Tuesday, January 28, 2020 | 2pm-3pm ET

With the push-me, pull-you nature of adolescence, how can parents feel confident that they are doing what they can to support their teens to create healthy relationships, work hard in school, and develop valuable life skills while resisting the high level risks they are exposed to? In the upcoming webinar, Jennifer Miller, M.Ed. will discuss how parents can better understand the developmental changes their children are undergoing to extend their empathy and patience. And we’ll dive into specific ways in which parents can act and react with social and emotional intelligence to grow their trusting relationship and model and cultivate the skills our teens need to become healthy, responsible, and independent.

Join us!

The End.
