As the parent of three grown children, I understand how hard it is to take a step back and let our children make mistakes. It is from making these mistakes that they will learn. As a parent, teacher and now an administrator, I see parents being overprotective. By not allowing children to falter or experience disappointment, you render them helpless, the precise opposite of what most parents hope to achieve.
Most adults realize that failing is common no matter how hard you try. A reality that our children need to learn, understand and begin developing the resilience to come back from failure, a trait that is essential to being successful.
In her book, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed, Jessica Lahey writes, “today’s overprotective, failure avoidant parenting style has undermined the competence, independence, and academic potential of an entire generation.” She offers the following seven “secrets” to children’s success.
"To remain a child before God means to recognize out nothingness, to expect everything from God. It is not to become discouraged over our failings, for children fail often, but they are too little to hurt themselves very much." ~St. Therese

We once again need your help to support our St. Albert Vikings. Each family is required to sign up for one slot during the season. This means if your child is playing football, volleyball, flag football, cross country, K-2 soccer, cheerleading or powder puff football you need to work a shift in the St. Albert gym. These volunteer hours greatly reduce the cost of all sports at St. Albert.
If you wish to have a sub work your shift, please refer to either the sub list located on the Sports Ministry link or contact Kelly Logsdon at kelly.lewis.logsdon@gmail.com You will be responsible for paying the sub. If you don't find a sub and do not show up for your shift, your child will have to sit out a game. If you do find a sub and the sub does not show up, your child will not be penalized.
Spruce up your closet with some St. Albert and Lyndon Catholic Rams gear!
Our spirit wear store is now live! Click on the link and place your order. Orders will be taken until the 1st and 15th of every month until midnight. Then, the order will be ready in 5 business days and can be picked up at the store. The store (Soccertown) is located in Holiday Manor right next to Feeder's Supply.
Go Vikings and Rams!
