The End (of the Year) Is Near

It is hard to believe how quickly the school year has passed and the end of the year is almost here. I would like to thank all of our parents for your faith, trust, and commitment to the mission of St. Albert the Great School. We respect the sacrifices each family makes to send their child here, and we will continue to put your child first in everything we do! This was a very busy year and you, as our partners in education, played a great role in making it a success.

We wish our eighth grade students all the best as they journey on to new places.

Have a wonderful summer making many happy memories with your children!

Summer Solutions

Summer learning loss puts students at a serious disadvantage. This is when skills and knowledge are lost over the summer months, causing students to move backwards instead of progressing.

By spending just minutes a day with Summer Solutions, students get the practice they need to keep moving forward. It was designed to help students return to school after summer break confident in the skills they've already learned and ready to master new ones.

Your child worked hard all year. Make sure that progress sticks. Give your child the advantage of Summer Solutions.

Each book is $13.00.

BE SURE TO USE OUR SCHOOL CODE TO GET THE RIGHT BOOKS: ALB40222

Bus Committee members needed!

Does your child ride the bus? We are starting a bus committee and are looking for a few more parents who want to help be points of contact for the school. We would like parents from each of our buses to participate so that each bus has representatives. Questions or interest, please contact Chris Spalding atschoolboard-ex-officio-chair@stalbert.org

$5 Scout Camp Card Sales

Please support the St. Albert Cub Scouts by purchasing a 2019 Camp Card for only $5.00. Use the $5 Kroger Coupon and it pays for itself. Please look for your order form in Folders this week. You may also print out this form and return thru kidmail. Thank you for your support!

Good Job 8th Grade!

We have some very exciting news to share! Every year the eighth grade takes the Algebra Proficiency Test also called the Acuity Test. This year 40% of our eighth grade class showed high mastery of Algebra 1! And 94% of the eighth grade showed moderate to high mastery. This year at least 43% of the eighth grade will be recommended for placement ABOVE Algebra 1 next year in high school. We are so very proud of our students and our outstanding math faculty that continue to demonstrate excellence in education!

Did you know that our 7th & 8th grade classes are divided into 5 math groups per grade? This allows our educators to have small class sizes so they can cater to the pace of the students, focus more on the content, and devote more personal attention to our students.

We thank those of you willing to volunteer, but we did not have enough volunteers to staff the week - with the public school systems' later dismissal and the same week as Girl Scout Camp among other factors, we have made the decision to offer a FAMILY DAY! on Saturday, September 14 here on Campus!

FAMILY DAY will be a BIG EVENT with a VBS atmosphere for the whole family - with a possible outdoor Mass, a dinner, bouncy houses, games, crafts & MORE!

We will need YOUR Help and a TEAM to design and plan this BIG EVENT! If you are willing to attend out Team Planning Meeting on May 7 at 7:00 pm in the Parish Life Complex Room #1 we would love to see you!!

Note: Current St. Albert archery coaches Jake and Emily Lomax are also the ones who conduct the Assumption Archery Camp!

Through 8 weeks of summer overnight camp, as well as school programming in the spring and fall, YMCA Camp Piomingo provides experiential learning opportunities and encourages campers to develop both life skills and character education. Multiple studies have shown that the activities and atmosphere at summer camp not only prevents summer learning loss but also creates an outdoor classroom that taps into academic success.

We want all students to have the benefit of these experiences, so we are reaching out to see if there is an opportunity to work more closely with your school. I have proposed some ideas below and would appreciate it if you could let me know if you are the person we would work with or if there is someone else I should contact at your school. We are hoping to impact as many campers, families, and schools as possible.
