Spring is here!

Since daylight savings time has just started, and with the completion of the Terra Nova test at the end of last week, we have found in years past that both of these things sometimes make it difficult for students to stay focused on their school work. Though we are getting close to the “home stretch” of the school year, we are not there yet. Our faculty and staff continue to work diligently with your children to optimize their learning. We are appreciative of your continued support as we work together in this daily pursuit of excellence. It is essential that we continue to work together as a team.

Being part of this team, we ask your cooperation with the following:

  • Please remember to check and sign Tuesday folders, and return them to school each week.
  • Continue checking your child’s grades on Sycamore, and communicating any concerns you may have to their teacher.
  • Try to keep bedtime routines as consistent as possible. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for success in the classroom.

Thank you for your help and support!

Assistant Principal

Preschool Dr. Seuss Week

Last week the preschool students celebrated Dr. Seuss. We had a special activity for each day which included wearing our favorite hat, crazy socks, pajamas and different colors throughout the week. Each of the teachers did different crafts, prepared different snacks, made a Dr. Seuss book, drew Dr. Seuss characters , watched videos and read many Dr. Seuss books.

Any St. Albert student that signs up to shave their head or donate a pony-tail by March 15th will be entered into a drawing for a $20 Dave & Buster’s Gift Card.

We have over 80 people signed up to donate hair by shaving or a pony tail. WOW!

https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/stalbert2019

If your family is not braving the shave or donating a pony-tail, no worries, please join us on March 16th . You will see students and families giving of themselves like you have never seen before. It is AMAZING!

We will be ready to celebrate “Kicking Cancer” this Saturday. Hope you will join us!

Assumption High School Summer Camps 2019

Now is the time to start planning for summer, and Assumption High School is excited to announce that registration for the 2019 camp schedule is now open! Assumption is offering a variety of stimulating enrichment and athletic summer camps, including 10 new options. We hope your family will be able to take advantage of some of these opportunities, and we ask that you please help spread the word with families that you know. Space is limited, so visit ahsrockets.org to learn more and register today! Contact lauren.lega@ahsrockets.org for questions.

Through 8 weeks of summer overnight camp, as well as school programming in the spring and fall, YMCA Camp Piomingo provides experiential learning opportunities and encourages campers to develop both life skills and character education. Multiple studies have shown that the activities and atmosphere at summer camp not only prevents summer learning loss but also creates an outdoor classroom that taps into academic success.

We want all students to have the benefit of these experiences, so we are reaching out to see if there is an opportunity to work more closely with your school. I have proposed some ideas below and would appreciate it if you could let me know if you are the person we would work with or if there is someone else I should contact at your school. We are hoping to impact as many campers, families, and schools as possible.

PTO Elections

The PTO is now accepting your nominations for the following positions on the PTO Executive Board for the 2019-2020 school year!

We currently have one Executive Board position open for nominations: Vice President has a three (3) year term and requires one (1) prior year of service on St. Albert's PTO. As a parent at the school, you are automatically a PTO member so as long as you have been in the school for a year, you are eligible to run for office.

The positions of Past President (Laura Nash) and President (Chris Wahl) are closed as they are multi-year terms.

All nominees should show a strong commitment to the purpose of the PTO. You may nominate yourself or someone you think will honorably represent the position.

Please send in your nominations by February 15, 2019 to pto@stalbert.org.
