Anxiety or something else?

WOW! There is excitement in the air at school. We have 11 more days (but who's counting, right?) There have been so many ups and downs and back and forths that a true end of the school year seems like it should be far away. But it is just around the corner and I know that everyone deserves a break.

As I think back over this year the one word that seems to stand out is ANXIETY. I looked back at my Monday memos and most of them discussed how to deal with stress and anxiety. I know many people I have talked with this year have shared how it has manifested in their lives.

Many times, when we think about anxiety, we just think about feeling nervous, having butterflies in our bellies, stomachaches, headaches, etc. but anxiety can come out in other ways too. I found this poster on gozen.com and I wanted to share it with you.

If you feel like your child is dealing with anxiety please reach out to your pediatrician. If you need a list of outside resources I can share my list with you. With help, students can learn the tools to combat anxiety. These tools are essential for those of us who experience anxiety. They help us learn how to talk back and take control of these anxious thoughts and feelings. Thank you for your support and understanding through this year. I wish everyone a relaxed and happy summer.

COVID REGULATION CHANGES

Thank you to everyone that has helped in keeping our community safe and healthy. After a couple of successful weeks without any COVID-19 positive cases, we will be making some adjustments. The updated COVID regulations as of Tuesday, May 4, 2021 are as follows:

  • Temperature checks will be suspended (Preschool will continue to check temperatures)

  • Homeroom classes will now be allowed to mix at outdoor recess. Masks should still be worn, if in close proximity, but if running and keeping distance, masks can come down. Homerooms will still be separated while eating lunch.

  • Some classes will be traveling to special area classrooms. Homerooms will travel strategically outside as much as possible to avoid crossing paths with other students. Special area classrooms will sanitize touchpoints between classes.

New Classroom Update

We are very excited that the Hendricks Hall committee has met and decided on the following items for our new classrooms:

  • Paint color has been chosen

  • Flooring has been chosen

  • New and improved lighting has been ordered

  • Cabinets and countertops have been chosen

  • New child size appropriate sinks have been chosen

  • Teachers have decided on their new furniture and other exciting additions to their classrooms

Renovations are scheduled to begin June 1, 2021
