Upcoming EVENTS

We will keep you up to date

We are aware of the governor's recommendation that was made this afternoon (08/10/20), however we have not received guidance from the Archdiocese of Louisville Office of Catholic Schools. We will share more information as we know more.

Pictured above are our new desk shields! When students are behind the shields at their desk they are not required to wear a mask. But these girls thought theirs were cute so they left them on. But they didn't have to.

Welcome to the family!

Due to some last minute decisions, involving teachers making the best choice for them and their families, Mrs. Koestel and Mrs Doheny have decided to not to return to St. Albert this year. We wish them and their families the best.

Please help me welcome our wonderful additions this year:

  • Angelica Ramirez is joining us with many years experience teaching Spanish. She will be teaching our K - fifth grade students on Thursdays and Fridays while teaching Spanish at St. Raphael Monday - Wednesday.
  • Jake Savage will be joining us as our eighth grade Language Arts teacher. Jake is coming to us from St. Edward where he was their sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Language Arts teacher. He helps with Trinity High School’s retreats, and will be a wonderful asset in preparing our eighth graders for Confirmation.
  • Becca Turner is our new Library/Media Specialist. Becca is coming to St. Albert from St. Michael where she has been the Technology teacher, Jr. High assistant and first grade assistant, working with all grades JK - 8. Becca has directed the St. Michael Drama Club and coached St. Michael’s Powderpuff teams.
  • Karoline Bandy is a former St. Albert student coming back to St. Albert to teach third grade. We are welcoming Karoline back “home” from St. Mary where she was a fifth grade assistant.
  • Terry Thorpe is joining our first grade team. Terry is coming to us with many years of primary teaching experience with a focus and passion for teaching reading. Terry just recently became a St. Albert parishioner and is so excited to join our school family.
  • Heather Miller is our new fifth grade teacher. Heather is a recent graduate of University of Kentucky and full of enthusiasm to start her teaching career at St. Albert.
  • Tracy Merkley is coming to St. Albert from Sacred Heart Academy where she has been teaching Chemistry and Physics. When you talk to Tracy, you see her love and passion for teaching math as well as developing relationships with her students. Tracy is joining Mary and Grace in sixth grade.
  • Ann Volk will be joining us this year as our new First Grade Assistant. Ann will be one of two assistants to be shared by our three first grade classes.
  • Melissa Niedert is our new part time Third Grade Assistant. Melissa will be at St. Albert on Thursdays and Fridays.

We are so excited that these people have joined our St. Albert family!

Optional Remote Learning Online (RLO)

Families that requested the optional RLO for their family can find the grade level plans below. This is the plan we will start the year with and we will be making adjustments as needed to fit the needs of our families.

Please direct all RLO questions to Lindsay Finley at lfinley@stalbert.org or leave a message or text at (502) 536-8761. Ms. Finley will be the liaison between students, parents, and teachers.

Since our start date for school has been pushed back one week to August 19, we will also be pushing back the date to notify us about choosing the Remote Learning Option. If you would like to choose the Remote Learning Option for August, you will need to notify Lindsay Finley (lfinley@stalbert.org) by Wednesday, August 12. We will still be doing RLO on a month to month basis so that if you are wanting to make a change to in person instruction from RLO or RLO to in person instruction you will need to do that by the 25th of each month.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these continually changing times.

Welcome!

We welcome all of our new Vikings to St. Albert the Great this year! Our new families received WELCOME yard signs over the weekend. If you would like your child(ren) to be featured on our school social media sites, please send a picture of them (next to their yard sign) to Janelle Richardson at jrichardson@stalbert.org. We welcome you to our school family!

Sycamore & Carpool

Mr. Henderson sent out a message on Friday evening with details about helpful tips for Sycamore and information about Carpool for this school year.

Questions About Uniform?

We've put together this handy guide that covers our uniform policy.

Open Classrooms

Bit of a curve ball for Open Classroom:

  • JK - Grade 8 will have Open Classrooms on 8/17 and their first day of school will be Wednesday, August 19th.

We will be following the drop off/pick up process and requiring masks to be worn while traveling inside the school. Sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building. This is an opportunity for students to find their homeroom, meet their teacher, and drop off school supplies.

  • A - E 4:00 - 5:00 pm
  • F - J 5:00 - 6:00 pm
  • K - O 6:00 - 7:00 pm
  • P - T 7:00 - 8:00 pm
  • U - Z 8:00 - 9:00 pm

Due to COVID-19 regulations with social distancing and the safety of our families, we will not be hosting our usual School Expo in the gym or the Used Uniform Sale in the Cafeteria during Open Classrooms.

If you need to turn in checks for the cafeteria, they can be mailed or dropped off in the school office M-F, 9:00AM-Noon.

*Please make sure you mark the checks CAFETERIA*

If you have questions about buses/Miller Transportation, please contact Larry Brunner at lbrunner@stalbert.org.

We will be adding school organization information and contact information to the Monday Memo, as needed, in lieu of booths being set up in the gym during Open Classrooms.

As always, if you have any questions about anything, please contact the school office at 425-1804 or Parish office at 425-3940.
